EMDR Therapy Intensives

Heal Faster and Go Deeper

You can heal from trauma and loss. You are not broken. You are becoming.

  • Do you want to accelerate the healing beyond what you would receive in a 50 minute session?

  • Do you have a chunk of time to devote to your healing?

  • Are weekly visits more difficult to fit into your schedule?

  • Are you a helping professionals struggling with burnout and compassion fatigue?

  • Are you a sensitive person who holds pain inside from experiences that were overwhelming or overstimulating

  • Are you dealing with a Grief & Loss that is overwhelming your ability to cope or find joy in life?

If you answered, “yes” to any of these questions, EMDR therapy Intensives may be a good fit for you.

What is an EMDR Therapy Intensive?

Rather than going to a regular weekly 50 minute counseling session, you would set aside a chunk of time - 3 hours or 3 days - for intensive therapeutic work. It is a concentrated way to get the power of EMDR without having time in between sessions. It helps people heal and feel better faster.

The financial component is startling: even compared to other trauma therapy. This intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on the following:

a) checking in at the beginning of each session

b) addressing current crises and concerns

c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after EMDR healing

d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.

 What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.

EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.

The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.

Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. To learn more about EMDR, click here and scroll down to bottom of page titled Methods

How does an EMDR Intensive work?

Kimberlee Daughtry is Certified in EMDR. She will spend the beginning part of the intensive to determine your goals for this time. You will examine what your life looks like now (your support system, stressors, ways you cope, and places that you want relief and growth). The goal of the EMDR Intensive is to do 2 things: 1) Make the pain hurt less and 2) Help the positive emotions feel bigger. She will help you do this with EMDR Reprocessing. Since Kimberlee is also a Registered Play Therapist and Shamanic Breathwork facilitator, she may utilize resourcing activities like guided meditation, sand tray, artwork or 20 min breath work to enhance the experience. Depending on where you are in your journey, you may spend time on your earliest relationships in life. For others, the focus is more present and future oriented. This process can be very personal and customized to you. Kimberlee emphasizes sharing fresh insights with the important people in your life so they can partner with you and celebrate your progress.
