Supporting couple relationships as they transition into parenthood
Gottman’s Bringing Baby Home Seminar for Parents/Couples
Supporting, Understanding, Deeper Connection
Relationships after having a baby can be hard to navigate.
Has the connection for friendship and communication eroded or become non existent?
Do you feel like you are gridlocked in the same perpetual arguments?
Do you feel lonely?
Do you feel increased and strain?
Do you long to be heard and understood by your partner?
Do you wish you could go back to the way things used to be when everything just moved smoothly?
An important life event such as having a baby is a wonderful thing. But transition to baby means change to the relationship. Dr Gottman’s research reports that 67% of new parents experience a decrease in relationship satisfaction during the first 3 years of baby’s life. Changes that you may undergo during this time will be increased stress and strains, altered values and goals, shifts in roles and diminished communication. All of these are perfectly normal. Parenting may also bring physical changes that may be hard- fatigue, decreased sexual desire, and perhaps some depression. With the right communication tools, these changes can also bring new parents closer together.
The Bringing Baby Home (BBH) workshop is a research-based and research-tested psychoeducational workshop that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for couple, babies and children by strengthening their families.
