M.Ed., LPC , LCDC, NCC
Steve is a native Texan. Steve has been serving in the U.S. Army for 18 years as Special Forces Medical Sergeant as well as a Federal investigator with U.S. Department of Labor (OSHA). He graduated from Lamar University in 2019 and received his LPC license in Oct 2019. Steve is currently in his last year at Arizona State University, working towards a Doctoral degree in Integrated Behavioral Health. Additionally, Steve is a certified Reiki Master.
Having served as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant in the Army, and a Federal Investigator, he personally understands the stresses of military and law enforcement lives and is uniquely suited to discuss the traumas associated with those professions as well as the challenges their friends, families, and loved one’s face.
Steve has experience counseling adults of all ages, children, and individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA community. He has traveled the world, from Europe to Africa, North, Central and South America, and lived among the local populaces in those areas for extended periods gathering cultural and life experiences. Steve is spiritual, believes we are all connected by a universal energy, and has an open understanding and respect for everyone’s spiritual or atheist beliefs.
Steve believes in an eclectic use of theories and techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, geared for each individual, to help through trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental and behavioral health issues. He believes therapy is not only confined to use of counseling theories and techniques, sometimes simply having someone to actively listen to you with unconditional positive regard is all that someone may need to get through a challenging day.
When Steve is not counseling, or doing homework he is in the woods, on the water or in it. He enjoys spending time with his family and can often be seen playing guitar, on a mountain bike trail, on the water kayak fishing, or out surfing.
Steve will be happy to talk to you.
