Gottman Couple / Marriage Therapy
Do you feel that the life dance with your partner has lost its rhythm? Has the connection for friendship and communication eroded or become non existent? When the flow of this sacred dance is disrupted, arguments escalate, understanding each other diminishes, and all of a sudden we feel we have lost our best friend. The undercurrent of the this rhythm loss can stem from life events such as big changes, addictions, infidelity, traumatic events, family issues, to list a few. These life issues can breed feelings of increased fear, anxiety, depression, shame, and anger. When this happens, perspective gets narrow and less expansive. This can drive behavior in ineffective ways.
The Gottman Method Couples Therapy is based on 40 years of research.
The therapy begins with assessments, an online Gottman Assessment and 2 assessment interviews ( 1 together as a couple and each an individual with Kim) in office. Then there is a Feedback session where Kim shares the results of the assessment and moves into the introduction of Gottman’s Sound Relationship House or the nine components of healthy relationships. From here, Kim helps facilitate a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs and goals as a couple. She gives you and estimate of how many sessions it will take to complete the treatment plan. She uses the structured, goal oriented Gottman exercises to help couples work through barriers that block the harmonious rhythm of the relationship dance. These interventions help to increase understanding when stuck in conflict and improve connection and closeness. She works to get you flowing back to feeling connected and in love.
